Well, what can I say about Ollie that would do him justice. Our first ever bull terrier. My husband had always wanted a bull terrier and when I came by chance upon this advert for one it seemed like fate.I mentioned it to him and we phoned and was over to have a look at him within the hour.He came down the stairs full of himself, a right little character and as soon as I saw him, he had the same attitude that Oliver Reed had and I said he has got to be called "Ollie" He lived up to his name, didn't like other dogs,liked doing his own thing but was loyal and true to us.He got on fine with the Alsatian that we had at the time although he was getting old and didn't really mind this young whipper snapper coming in trying to rule the roost.Although I must say he was put in his place at times.
Unfortuantely Ollie suffered with a skin problem for most of his life and we took him to various vets who prescribed different medication, we even took him to a blood specialist in London, all to no avail. In the last three months of his life he deteriorated.We finally called a vet home to give us an opinion,he said that all the medication over the years had taken its toll on his immune system and he was a very sick dog but he would take him to his surgery to put him on a drip all night to see if that would help. That was the last time I saw him, the vet 'phoned the following morning to say Ollie had passed away. He did however bring him home to us to say our goodbyes before Ollie was cremated.I couldn't bring myself to go out to the van, I was too upset, my husband did but was so devestated he couldn't speak because of the tears.We brought his ashes with us to Spain. We just couldn't bear to be parted from him.
I thought because that he had passed away quite awhile ago it was too late for a tribute but I read all the tributes and realise that it is never too late to honour a much loved friend.
God Bless you Ollie, we will never forget you.
